Solidarity membership gives you a chance to make a global difference. As Canadians, we’re blessed with progressive labour laws, good wages, safe working conditions, and the freedom to belong to labour unions. Many of your fellow global citizens don’t have the same privilege.

With your solidarity membership support, however, our international program can continue to work with like-minded labour unions in Latin America, Asia, and elsewhere to support basic rights and freedoms for workers.

How Solidarity Locals Create Change

Together, solidarity locals across Canada network to promote progressive labour relations, including:

• Spreading the word through publications such as our official magazine, the Guide
• Events and campaigns highlighting labour challenges in other countries
• Seminars and banquets featuring speakers who address union topics
• Events to help students at schools and universities learn about unions, negotiating, and more
• Speaking engagements exploring how progressive unions such as ours create healthy workplaces

Giving and Receiving

As a solidarity member, you also support this alternative way for labour through your dues, which are paid to the union even though you’re not covered by a CLAC-negotiated collective agreement where you work, and therefore receive none of the usual representation benefits of union membership.

For a minimum of just $25 per year, you receive our publications, are notified of upcoming meetings and seminars, and receive reduced or free entry to larger seminars.

And by becoming a solidarity member, you also gain access to extras such as our Advantage Program and may be eligible to qualify to gain access to our benefit plans.
